I took some of the decoration back off
Dressing the machine helped, but more signs and detail weren't always making it look better.
- Art
- Boards
Looking at real pinball machines made our graybox feel very empty. We tried more finished hardware, a printed playfield, and floor indicators to give the board some of that busy machine feeling.
I ended up removing the floor indicators. I didn't like how they came out, and adding more things to look at wasn't helping me enjoy the table. The playfield art needed a similar rethink. The early print had too much decoration and that overly busy generated look.
The newer direction is calmer: a forest clearing, a distant castle, and more room around the important shots. Rounded hardware, wood, brass, and curved castle-brick guides do more of the work now. I still want a beautiful machine. I'm just getting a better idea of which details deserve to be on it.
