A moving gate is more than its model

The route-changing ramp needed the moving arm and the stationary track to agree about what was actually moving.

One of the ramp ideas I wanted to keep was a little gate that changes which exit is available. Make the shot, move the arm, send the next ball down the other route. Simple enough to describe!

The actual setup involved an arm that could move incorrectly or let the ball pass through it. A hinge-looking model doesn't automatically give Unity a useful pivot or a solid moving barrier. The fixed ramp track and the moving gate needed separate responsibilities.

The working setup keeps the track still and gives the arm its own pivot and collision shape. Completion triggers can change the route without dragging the ramp along with it. That separation also matters when replacing the artwork later. The fancy visible railing and the smooth surface carrying the ball don't have to be the same mesh.
